though the activity itself is not a long drawn one, it is because of the public speaking that is involved with such an activity that creates that fear as public speaking is not everybody’s cup of tea. So if you are in the process of working out your wedding plans and know that some of the guests to the wedding may not mind speaking in public, then you can go for the conventional toast ritual starting with your dad, then the best man and some of the other guests good at public speaking taking their turns.
However, if you wish to be different and do something that is fun, then this article is for you. To start with, you can do away with the toast ritual totally. It is not mandatory and since every wedding is a unique event for the person, you have full right to plan it the way you want and stamp your personality as well as that of your partner on the event by planning it accordingly.
Or you can go ahead with the toast but do it differently by requesting the person to make the toast on camera and hand it over to the wedding couple later on. Though this is not a very unique concept in itself, it definitely helps in not putting the speaker on the spot and at the same time provides opportunity to anybody who wants to convey their feelings for the couple.
In the event your guest list is full of many extrovert personalities, then you can consider giving each of them an opportunity to say something by passing the microphone. You can do this creatively by handing over the microphone to that person whose name begins with the letter of the last one of the person who spoke before.
This way you will make the event a fun one and people who do not wish to speak can always excuse themselves and head off to the restroom. Often when you get people to say something without any preparation or warning about the couple, you can get hilarious results. Another creative method is to decide and announce that at least one person at every table must speak something for the couple. The tables can then be numbered and then you can have the MC or the DJ to call out numbers leaving the occupants at the table to decide as to who would speak.
