How To Find The Best Diamond Engagement Ring For Your Money!

If you are ready to get engaged, you will definitely want to pick out a dazzling diamond engagement ring for your fiancée.  Choosing a ring might seem easy, but making sure you pick out a quality diamond can be a little tricky.  What’s more the range of rings to buy seems endless, from heart shaped diamond engagement rings right through to canary diamond engagement rings.

Remember, you don’t want to buy a diamond engagement ring that doesn’t sparkle and shine.  Diamond engagement rings are used to symbolize the lifelong commitment you feel for your partner.  You wouldn’t dream of compromising on the choice of a life partner, you likely wouldn’t want to compromise in choosing the stone that will symbolize your commitment.

Tips for Choosing the Best Diamond

Nearly everyone has heard that the quality and character of a diamond is measured by the 4Cs.  The combination of the properties that make up the 4Cs will determine what a stones value is and is used by people to get the best diamond for their budget.  We have included some information about the 4Cs that can be used to prepare yourself to choose the best diamond ring for your fiancé.

The Diamond Carat:

A diamond is measured by the carat.  This is a unit of measurement that was derived from the ancient method of balancing scales.  In contemporary times a carat is 200 milligrams and one ounce is 142 carats.  The small diamonds are measured in cents.  Remember that the more carats a diamond is, the higher the price will be.

The Color Of A Diamond:

Many people don’t realize that diamonds are available in several different colors like yellow, pink, and even black.  However, the color that most people prefer is white.

They are translucent and colorless and are very rare to mine.  The price tag reflects this rarity.  Other precious gems are normally graded by how far their color is away from pure white and deep color is desired.  When you are selecting a diamond, choose one that is as close to white as possible and has no yellowish tinge.

The Diamond Clarity:

The clarity that diamonds offer is one of their most fascinating properties.  Clarity is normally affected by external elements, but it’s not surprising for diamonds to be less appealing because of imperfections that are internal.  Since diamonds are natural stones, they may have bubbles, spots, or small lines that are called inclusions.  Inclusions will drop the quality of a diamond so it pays to watch carefully for these imperfections.

The Cut Of A Diamond:

Nearly every diamond is cut according to a mathematical formula that’s been pre-calculated.   Most diamonds that are sold are cut into a round shape that has 58 facets, but the most cherished cut is the radiant cut that includes between 64 and 70 facets.  A facet is a small, flat, and highly polished surface that will reflect the maximum amount of light back, allowing the diamond to be bright and sparkly and completely eye catching.

It’s Up To You:

While the 4Cs are important when choosing a diamond, it is equally important to choose a ring that your fiancée will love.  Would your betrothed enjoy an oval, square, round, or rectangular shape?   Be sure to give some thought to the design and setting as well.  Once you have made your selection, be sure you buy the diamond engagement ring from an accredited member of the Gemological Institute of America.
