Groom Wedding Toast
If you genuinely forget to thank someone during your groom speech or groom toast, you may be forgiven – but to say the wrong thing entirely may lead to disaster! This is probably the one single thing that most if us dread during wedding speeches! However, luckily I have a few tips and pointers for you. Click here to learn more: Groom Wedding Toast.
Toasting the Bride
The worst thing you could do during your groom toasts is to start talking about your ex-girlfriend. This may sound like a no brainer, but don’t take anything for granted – there are grooms who have done it! Even if you want to compare your new wife favourably, if she’s anything like mine she will not appreciate it – My wife would certainly not approve, particularly on her wedding day, the most important day of her life!
You should also speak favourably of the bride at all times. Try to avoid teasing jokes, this is not the right time for it. In my speech I stuck to what I knew my bride would want me to say, and it worked!
Steer Clear Of Alcohol
Your biggest enemy is alcohol. No matter how well prepared your groom’s speech is, drinking too much could be your downfall. Yes, we have all got drunk at some stage, so you should know exactly how verbally vunerable we are. Take my advice and steer clear of all alcohol until after your groom toasts!
A Few Other Tips
If you want to be in control then my advice would be plan ahead. By not planning your groom speaches ahead, you are also leaving yourself wide open to a very embarrassing and awkward situation. Luckily however, there are now plenty of online sources to help you choose a decent
speech, or even a funny groom speech, but just remember the advice I gave you in an earlier post on being careful with groom speech jokes.
Lastly I want to say that, no matter how well you say things, going on for too long isn’t going to go down well. Try to work on your speech so it doesn’t take an hour to deliver! Click here if you would like to learn how to write a great groom speech: Groom Speaches.
