Choosing a Wedding Photographer

Most couples are planning to hire a professional wedding photographer in order to capture memories that will last a lifetime. You may also want to know how much it costs to have professional wedding photography done.  There are three major areas to which most of the money goes.

Candid photos are pictures that are taken at the wedding and the reception, and these pictures are usually put together in an album for both the bride and groom.  These types of photos are usually put together not only for the couple themselves but also for the parents and some of the attendees.  Albums are a significant cost consideration when having pictures taken.

When you’re looking at spending $250 are more on an album made by designers such as Art Leather, Leather Craftsmen, or a similar leather bound album, the costs can add up quickly.  These major brands of wedding albums come with a lifetime guarantee and the pictures are permanently affixed to the booklet.

So why exactly should you go out and purchase such expensive albums when vinyl ones can be had for a much less expensive price?  The answer is that vinyl will eventually damaged the photographs even if it takes over a decade.  If you want your wedding memories to last forever you may decide to prefer styles such as Waterhouse albums which run about $500 but have tear proof pages and covers which will last a lifetime.

Other individuals who want to preserve their wedding memories decide on digital albums, where photographs are printed directly onto the album itself, so there are very few expenses that a wedding photographer undergoes, and these types of albums can be produced en masse for wedding guests.

The third area of expense involves engagement and pre-wedding pictures.  Bridal portraits in the South are usually taken indoors, about six weeks before the wedding itself.  Many couples also decide to have engagement portraits taken of themselves, and the two costs that will be incurred are fees for the session and fees to have the photographs developed.

So what is a sitting fee? This is usually a charge that will cover the photographers time and print charges are the fees that are assessed to have a picture developed.  Lastly, how much does a wedding photographer cost?  Fees range widely depending on professionalism, but in a rural area, you are looking at around $600 and in New England fees may be upwards of a few thousand dollars. Shopping around is advised to find the best deal but remember that you will usually get what you pay for and if you want quality then you had better be ready to pay up.
